Dundalk to Ballyshannon Ireland

Kevin dressed in the latest fashions... (at Loch Cairlianne)

Tuesday September 13, 2011
After yet another hearty Full Irish Breakfast in our modern B&B in Dundalk, Ty and I toured the west coast of central Ireland looking at old stone formations and ruins along the way.  The weather was less than cooperative most of the day with relentless east winds and heavy showers every few minutes.  Hurricane Katia has claimed two lives here but it sounds like Scotland got the worst of it.

We made our way to Newry and back out to the Irish Sea at Kilkeel where we toured the warves and walked through some farmers yards in search of old celtic standing stones, though we didn't see much but sheep and cows.

We returned to Newry and headed on our final zig west through Enniskillen to Ballyshannon stopping at the odd castle along the way.

We have a B&B in Ballyshannon for the night and will head east again tomorrow through the northern route towards Belfast for our connecting flight to Rome on Thursday.
